Kerry and Gore lost all 3. Dems have not lost any of them since, & likely won't tonight.

adds up to a major structural shift on the map, even before you get to states like AZ and TX
now, Trump got around that in 2016 by breaking the Midwestern blue wall. the biggest question for him tonight – and for his party going forward – is whether that is likely to happen again or emerged from unique conditions of the last campaign.
