#newsliteracy and #Election2020
thread: You might be concerned about where to find reliable election results as voting counts are reported tonight. For #LA voters this is a really helpful resource

But you should also follow your local news outlets to help contextualize and clarify any of those results. That means, if you are in SoCal @latimes will give you the real-time results AND will help you to better understand any questions about voting or legal concerns that come up
local outlets will also closely follow the national elections. I would also suggest @washingtonpost @WSJ @nytimes which are devoting a lion’s share of their resources to covering tonight’s election. @NPR will be a great resource too.
Broadcast is an easy tool but be mindful of what you are hearing— is it information being presented as opinion/experience/insight or facts based on reporting work from on the ground. Both can be valuable but the difference is significant and can have a profound impact on viewers
Be careful of what you share. Look for things like #corrections and #clarifications from reporters— those increase credibility because it shows a reporter is invested in presenting you with truth and is sticking with a story.
And don't forget to vote. This is news story that you get to participate in, so make sure you know your rights and make sure your ballot is submitted. #newsliteracy #Election2020
