By blocking of the railway tracks from midnight on Sunday to the early hours of Monday at Chandor, Goans showed their opposition against ill conceived projects being taken up by the government.

The Railway authorities have proposed double - tracking the south - western railway line to facilitate coal transportation through the state from Goa's Mormugao port, to coal and steel plants in north Karnataka. #GoyantKolisoNaka #AmcheMollem #SaveMollem
The doubling of SWR tracks is one of the three major Central government projects which is being opposed by civil society groups and opposition parties for a number of reasons #GoyantKollsoNaka #AmcheMollem #SaveMollem
Sunday night's protests highlight the environmental destruction, given that the projects are to negatively affect the Western Ghats, forest areas in Mollem, the lakes, rivers and farm lands in Goa.

The railway doubling line even involves cutting of trees in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and unfortunately the National Board of Wildlife too has failed to rise to the occasion and do its job of protecting wildlife and its habitats 6/7

Goa's beauty has been preserved by the people of Goa who have not allowed ill conceived projects to be taken up within the state . It is time for the rest of the country to rise up to the occassion and support their fellow countrymen and women at this hour of need!
