For those trying to understand the political opportunities for misinformation on an election day, zoom in on swing states & look closely at content that ascribes malicious motives to what might be a normal misunderstanding. We only vote every 4 years and procedures vary by state
This means there will be confusion about procedures, especially oversight of ballot counting and canvasing near polling places. This does not automatically correlate to maliciousness, fraud, or theft.
Be wary of those who have been pushing for months that the election is rigged. Disinformation is a constant chorus. A campaign, like #stopthesteal, has been going on for months across platforms. It's not new and it's definitely not the only thing we will see today.
However, what makes a campaign like this more potent today is how they will recontextualize videos from the polls to suit their prefigured narrative. Any conflict or challenge to the process of voting becomes evidence of malicious intent. That is misinformation in action.
Lots of reports that YouTube studio isn’t working, so some live streamers are unable to go live. Again, look for those ascribing some intent to what could be an ordinary glitch.
