The best and most important thing I can say right now is that if the results tonight don't turn out the way you want, don't have a heart attack.
My mom did 4 years ago.
Is this election important? Yes.
Is there life -- and purpose, and meaning -- beyond elections?
Also yes.

Over 150M Americans are expected 2 vote--that's the highest # ever, and yet it will still equate to 3 of every 8 eligible voters STAYING HOME, thinking they don't have a voice in this country.
Whoever wins, we have a lot to fix in a country where many feel they're unheard+unloved

Whoever wins, that person will face a landscape in January in which restaurants will be closing left+right, small businesses will be on the edge of a cliff, precarity+sickness are likely to be pervasive, and government will need a very robust response.
The work is just beginning

We're about to head->a holiday season where many Americans will gather indoors with relatives as a health risk, but feeling they need 2 physically touch the people they care most about... bc they think if government won't help them, why should they continue to observe guidelines?
Speaking only 4 myself:
Yes it will suck on many orders of magnitude if Trump is re-elected, but 1 election won't save us.
Hopefully Americans have realized in 2020 that Congress doesn't give a flying fire truck about them, & that constant pressure+organizing is what will save us

Politicians need to fear the people, instead of people fearing politicians.
Business as usual isn't acceptable.
There can be no "return to normal," because "normal" meant tens of millions having health care tied to employment, which -- when a pandemic hits -- is a TOTAL disaster

All of us--including myself--must go forth into 2021+the rest of this decade with a new awareness of how precarious an existence many fellow Americans have. I must do more 2 reduce that precarity not only in how I vote, but in being more proactive in meeting daily needs of others
Final point:
Nancy Pelosi+Chuck Schumer always say, "Gosh, those nasty Republicans are just too tough+smart for us. We'll pass really good legislation next time later on."
That's learned helplessness.
It's a harmful mindset. It's also a lie.
In politics or in life, play hard.
