I'd just like to remind everyone out there that no matter what happens tonight (and tomorrow, because this is going to be a long election) you should be trying to keep things in perspective.
As citizens of arguably one of the wealthiest countries in the world who have the ability to choose their own leader every 4 years, you're already extremely privilged compared to truly marginalized people.
It's understandable to have some strong emotions, but keep it in check. Remember that elections happen often, that politics are finite, and that there are people out there who would kill to have our level of privilege as a nation.
Think about that if you're tempted to actually go out and riot or disrupt the peace after this evening. You'll be throwing the global equivalent of a toddler tantrum.
So maybe do something else instead. Go out and find someone who needs your help for real, and help them. Do something nice for someone you disagree with. Make a donation to a cause you care about.
Elections aren't everything. If you really want to change the way this nation works, then you need to start with the little things. Peacefully. Not by razing stuff and cursing the government. 'Nuff said.
Good luck out there today guys.
