Random: one thing that really annoys me in documentaries about the ascent of man, they always stay in Africa through the early hominids, but as soon as they get to the origins of human creativity, they run to Europe, even though the oldest cave paintings are from Southern Africa. https://twitter.com/hitraveltales/status/1323312847166865409
...In fact if you google “earliest cave paintings” you’ll get a blurb about 44,000 year old cave paintings in Western Europe, even though the oldest cave paintings ever discovered are in Blombos cave near Cape Town, South Africa. This is how White supremacy drips into the brain..
...This narrative “First we left Africa, then we got smart,” has been getting relentlessly pushed ever since humanity’s origins in Africa were discovered. It’s complete hog shit. I’ve threaded about it. https://twitter.com/negrosubversive/status/1115055353832640513
And when I say the earliest cave paintings are in South Africa, I don’t mean by a little, the Blombos cave paintings are 73,000 years old, that’s a 19,000 year gap.
