We show positive selection on 12.5% of developmental enhancers in fly evolution, and provide a regulatory basis for the hourglass pattern #evodevo with both conservation and positive selection on developmental enhancers.
Conservation was shown by DNase-seq over development of Drosophila melanogaster and virilis.
The detection of positive selection on regulatory elements extends the method proposed by @ljljolin in https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.09.984047v3
