As I’m reading through Twitter the last week I recognized how important is that we all have healthy stress coping mechanisms. So here are a few that work for me that build you up instead of break you down when you’re feeling at your weakest. Thread 👇🏻
Feeing anxious? This triggers fight or flight and builds up adrenaline that needs to go somewhere or it will destroy your sleep, peace, and stomach.

Every time you feel it come on do a mile. Bike, run, or walk a mile at home or on a machine to release the adrenaline. 👇🏻
Feeling tense? Some people tend to curl up in a ball as a form of protection when they’re feeling anxious or threatened. Unwrap your self.

Yoga, Pilates or any exercise that lengthens you help release this instinct to armor yourself. Become more not less to face a challenge. 👇🏻
Feeling restless? Are you rolling around kicking all night trying to get your legs to settle while stressed? Expend that energy that is desperately trying to leave your body.

Squats, burpees, or any strenuous exercise that exhausts that need to discharge that stress will help 👇🏻
Feeling like you may want to hit something? DO IT. The desire to fight unknown assailants while feeling under attack should be put to use.

Get some gloves 🥊 and beat the shit out of a bag. Kick the crap out of your stress. Don’t let it win 👇🏻
Feel like you can’t catch your breath? We breath shallowly when we’re pressed from every side. Don’t make your lungs smaller make them larger. Extra oxygen ramps up the brain🧠 to solve a problem.

Try some breathing exercises. Pick a song w a slow steady beat & breathe to it 👇🏻
Feeling like you just want to wrap up in a blanket & hide? When we’re under attack we fee the need to shelter. Embrace the need.

If you’re able hug someone. Like a real hug. A minute or more. Breathe with it, release more every breathe, fee it leave your body. 👇🏻
Need to shelter but don’t have someone to hug because of Covid?

Wrap up tight. Roll yourself into a blanket then into a tight ball. Again breathe with it releasing more of what’s built up inside your till you feel warm and relaxed.👇🏻
Breathing fast like you’re trying to catch a breathe? Interrupt that pattern.

Get a giant glass of ice water and drink a sip every single minute. This distracts your breathing and forces you to slow down. Added benefit you’re super hydrated. 👇🏻
Feel like you want to scream at everyone that crosses your path? Go scream.

Find a private place and get it out. Go take it out on the universe. Scream out your fears, anger, and disappointments. Let them go so you don’t destroy those around you while under stress. 👇🏻
Holding back tears all day? No way let them out. Don’t bottle up what needs to go. Tears carry out all versions of grief let them.

Trigger those tears. Watch a sad movie, read a heartbreaking story, remember what hurts you & then unlock the floodgates. Cry it out. Let it go 👇🏻
Fee like you need to vomit? Do it. When our lives get toxic we start to go toxic inside. Clean that shit out.

Cleanses & fasts are your friend. Start from fresh. Do a 1 day or more fast. Allow all the bad to leave your body then follow up with excellent nutrition. 👇🏻
Can’t get warm? Sometimes when you get over exhausted or stressed you feel I need to surround our body in warmth. Immerse yourself in heat.

Draw a hot bath with epsom salt a body oil. Treat yourself like a newborn babe. Nurture yourself back to new. You deserve the love. 👇🏻
Feeling touchy? Maybe you need to be. When we get overwhelmed our nerves start to over fire. Re-center them.

Massage reminds every nerve where it is & needs to relax pinpointing what is out of balance. Slowly massage every part starting from your head down till back in center👇🏻
Feeling jump? Then jump. Every sound has you startled you may need to bounce that anxiety out. Jumping in place presenters the body putting it back in touch with itself.

Jump in place until you feel warm and exhausted. Reminding the body that it’s whole & safe 👇🏻
Mind wandering? Let it wander. Sometimes our mind is trying to communicate something but the path is just not open. Open it

Get a pen & write. It doesn’t have to be directed. Just write your thoughts. Maybe it becomes a story, poem or song. Maybe it’s just a ramble. Let it be 👇🏻
Are you finding yourself wandering around the house? Your body’s telling you it needs a refresh. Go take it wandering.

Get outside. Walk down that street you’ve always wondered what was at the end of, go peek inside that gallery window, speak to that stranger. Go on that quest👇🏻
Find what you’re looking for. What is your soul craving? What need is unfulfilled? What adventure have you failed to take? What is that thing you always meant to do? Go do it. What’s stopping you?

Don’t get in your own way. 👇🏻
Having trouble seeing your path? Draw a map. Sketching out what we want to see is an excellent way to find what we’re looking for.

Draw what you’re dreaming of. You may be surprised what gets added to the picture. If you can’t envision it you’ll never know when you’ve found it👇🏻
Feeling powerless? Time to put on a cape. Empower yourself

As you code your eyes to sleep imagine any power that seems fun and what you would do with it. What wrongs would you right? What adventures would you have? What could you gain that you lack? Chase the dream 👇🏻
Feeling hopeless? Hope builds off hope. Start with a little the. Follow it.

Hope for something small and instantly attainable. Then realize when you got it and hope for a little more. Repeat until you’re used to the feeling. Hope builds on hope. Start building👇🏻
