I've thought a lot about this mindset.

It says "Iraq was bad, but Blair was ultimately better than he was worse" and, to speak plainly, this is the mindset of racism and imperialism

It assumes that there is certain amount of dead children that is negated by SureStart centres https://twitter.com/RussInCheshire/status/1323297109513281537
The emphasis on the domestic record is a distraction, and it must be steeped in valuing Iraqi lives less than others' for it to maintain internal consistency.
If Blair had opened a million SureStarts, but he had used white phosphorus on an area with whites, I don't think this reaction would be the same.

How much can you spend in tax credits before a million dead Iraqis don't get the emphasis they deserve?
This mindset MUST presume that. It must, to be internally consistent - to place more emphasis on the domestic than the international.
How many do you have to lift out of poverty at home that can negate babies in Fallujah being born with birth defects today from the use of white phosphorus?

What is the figure on child benefits that negates Iraqis being tortured in Abu-Ghraib and British facilities?
This mindset MUST presume a lower value on Iraqi lives; I don't think if Blair killed a million white people at home that he would be treated in the same way in the slightest. There wouldn't be this deflection to how many SureStarts he built if there wasn't that presumption
