War hero Noor Inayat Khan was the first female radio operator sent to occupied Paris, and for a time the only transmitting agent there. There's a statue of Khan, in a not-very-obvious spot in Bloomsbury. In 2012 it was the first public, standalone statue honouring a woman of Asian background anywhere in the UK.
