OK, I know very important election results are imminent and covid-19 is rife in the N hemisphere, but I decided to do something spontaneous this morning and go to Bangkok’s Don Meung Airport. The airport was quiet.
OK, it’s off to Ranong, where hopefully there’ll be a boat to Koh Phayam ...
Great flight with Air Asia.
Minibus at the airport direct to the pier for the fast boat to Koh Phayam. It’s been 3-1/2 hours since I left my apartment in Bangkok now. It’s all going swimmingly.
All aboard for the Koh Phayam fast boat. Note the changing demographics of life pandemic island travel in Thailand. No backpackers!
45 minutes later!
I hire a Scoopy 125cc scooter and the pier and 30 minutes later I’m settled in at the Hornbill Resort on Buffalo Bay, just over 5 hours door to door with no planning.
Please forgive this intermission in doomscrolling.
Wait, I missed the kao man kai (Hainan chicken) breakfast at the airport- and no bitching about the elective kai tort!
And for @TaiwanBirding, the resort has these mysterious birds with bills like horns! What on Earth are they?
In additional news, I’m not alone and sadly the Hippie Bar is not open, they reckon they may do in a couple of weeks, depending on whether anyone comes.
