Let's discuss the thing that all the "edgy realists" want to hear:

Doherty was poor vs Brighton. He managed to do a decent job defensively, but from an attacking pov, his contribution was close to zero.

Few Spurs fans are already calling him a flop. But no.
Read this thread.
People should realise how different an RWB is from an RB.

It's not as easy as you think.

Remember vs Everton, first half, he did really well, linking up with Kane, playing cross-field passes, and should've also scored.

But throughout that match, he was caught positionally.
Doherty, at the moment, is stuck between ensuring that he isn't caught out of position and confused when to push up top.

I'm sure he's working with the coaching staff to make sure that he develops properly as a right-back.

He's clearly in need of help in decision making.
So give him the damn time he deserves. He's not even reached double-figures in appearances for the club and this is how you want to treat him?

I agree, we expected him to be an upgrade for Serge, which isn't the case right now.

At the moment, Aurier is doing better, 100%.
A lot of you are saying let's go for Tariq Lamptey or Youcef Atal in January, they're "ballers."

Lamptey's a gem.

BUT

BOTH Atal and Lamptey play as RWBs in a back five.
Fuckin hell, you lot are willing to see the same thing that's happening to Matt but with a different player?
Don't be hypocrites by wanting to sign more RWBs who need time to convert into RBs.

We all know that Matt MUST do better. Matt himself knows that.

He was the second most creative RB in the league last season (statistically, so the number junkies can't argue)

Give. Him. Time.
Oh, but that doesn't mean he's immune from criticism.
At the start of this thread, I said that Matt was disappointing vs Brighton. You can say that too.

But stop abusing him, calling him a flop, and saying that we should've never bought him.

You all know that he has the ability
Don't pull out my old tweets where I said that Tanguy should've done better last season (in terms of effort and overall attitude towards the entire situation)

If you're amongst those who call Stevie a flop and Doherty a useless buy.

Tanguy deserved time, but these guys don't?
End of thread.

You can pick whoever you want between Aurier and Doherty. It's your preference, no problem with that.

It doesn't mean that you have to trash the new player who clearly needs time to develop into a VERY different role.

Thin line between criticism and slander :)
