#TheResistance Hello, old friends. I'm writing to apologize for not being as active these last few months; Truth be told, I had grown so sick of trump, & his bullshit, that I had become a loss for words. I am sick of his followers, & their fanatical devotion to such an evil man.
#TheResistance I was also naïve enough to think, that this country would fully recognize fascism for what it is, & reject it out of hand. I totally underestimated the amount of hate in this country, & how it has grown unchecked for so damn long, now emboldened by a con man.
#TheResistance I should have known better, given my experiences growing up; Below is a pic of me, age 15. Because of my looks, People did not know if I was white or black, though my Mom was of Irish descent, & my father a doctor from Spain. I got called all the N-word a lot.
#TheResistance I also got asked questions like "Are you mixed?" I'm not going to tell you that I fully understand racism or prejudice, but I have tasted how bitter, & how cruel it is. I got in a lot of fights as a kid, & I grew up into a very angry & mistrustful person.
#TheResistance I also drank & would swallow any drug I was handed. Part of it was trying to be cool, & be accepted by those who hated me for reasons I didn't quite comprehend. The other was so I could escape it.
#TheResistance Fortunately, I did make some friends among "The Nerds". I learned to play guitar, & I started playing Dungeons and Dragons. These two things I credit for helping me to not go over the edge & destroy myself.

#TheResistance Still, I endured a lot of emotional pain; It's one thing to be an awkward teenager; it's another to be an awkward teenager in a small Indiana town, where ignorance & prejudice go hand in hand. I became so angry & depressed, I just wanted the world to burn.
#TheResistance Luckily, I was able to get out of this redneck town for a while, & go out west to school. However, I saw some mighty ugly racism there as well. Neo-Nazi skinheads are despicable, & there were lots of them around. My distaste for such prejudice became intense.
#TheResistance Still, I never really tried to do anything about it; I thought that others were better suited to battle such things, & I had booze to drink, dope to smoke, & shows to play. I had willfully blinded myself to my own pain. I decided it wasn't my problem. I was wrong.
#TheResistance I also didn't give a damn about voting; I did not think that it mattered. Then 911 happened, & Bush decided to Invade Iraq. I began for the first time, to pay attention to how fucked-up things were. I saw the hate directed at Muslims, & felt a familiar pain.
#TheResistance Then trump got elected & started tossing Hispanic kids in cages; Charlottesville happened, & all the racist monsters that had hidden under their rocks felt safe to crawl into the light. I never liked trump, but I found his racism intolerable.
#TheResistance Then Covid-19 hit, & trump seemed to not only be indifferent to the country's suffering, but seemed to enjoy leveling accusations at Democratic-led states, demonstrating both intolerance & wanton cruelty, with a healthy dose of blatant, brazen incompetence.
#TheResistance I guess the point that I am trying to make is, that if you just sit on the sidelines, & feed yourself the delusion that the world is not your problem, then you rob yourself of your own power, & hand it over to a tyrant, who will kill you with it.
#TheResistance The only way we can really combat hate, is to be active in our democracy, & encourage others to also be so. Freedom isn't free, unless you use it to make a difference. Then, it sets other people free. In a few hours, I am going to go vote. I hope you do too!
#TheResistance trump & the GOP must answer for the 231,000+ dead of Covid-19. trump & the GOP must answer for unarmed black people being shot dead. trump & the GOP must answer for all the Hispanic children tossed in cages. trump & the GOP must answer for their cruelty!
#TheResistance It's up to us, all of us, to stand up & vote this madness out of office, & never again allow it to hold power in this country. Voting out trump & the GOP will be a good start! PLEASE VOTE!
