VCs and University Prezs are lightning rods for abuse by design. One of their main institutional purposes is to attract, absorb, & dissipate collective outrage that might otherwise coalesce into real transformative power.

It might be easier to build that power by ignoring them.
It is hard to ignore VCs. There may be good tactical reasons to orient issues around them, sometimes. They are public faces of gross irresponsibility atm. But I'm increasingly convinced the only path to decent policy is to organize & enact it without institutional sanction.
Ditto for faculty senates and comparable "official" bodies. These structures have proven themselves worse than useless, even (or especially) when they "work." Here's how an "educational leadership" guru theorized such bodies' role (Bosquet, _How the University Works_, p74)
btw, this thread is not a subtweet of anyone denouncing university managers for hypocrisy, cowardice, or neoliberal nihilism.

That is also my jam, and we should absolutely still do that.
