If one's picture of the path of Jihad is tainted with romanticism and hype, then be assured they will most likely not withstand the tests and trials that await. This applies to the Mujahid himself, as well as those who are connected to him; wife, children and so on. A sincere
goes out, seeking that which he has seen in the media, brotherhood, love, a swift shahadah, but then is shaken to the core when he finds that the trail is arduous, and long. The Shahadah that he thought he would attain in months, has become years. Those brothers with whom he
solice and refuge, may soon become enemies due to ideological differences. Those smiling bearded faces whom he once thought the world of, turned out to be corrupted vessels carrying rotten hearts.
The Sister, who sincerely intended to wait for her husband, along with their
children, realizes she didn't fully comprehend the difficulty and patience required to withstand the distance of separation. Waiting to receive that hopeful message that her husband has attained Shahadah, gives way to constant worry and anxiety, which in turn gives way to other
thoughts, and a realization that divorce is her way back to a normal life, and the distance makes the pain of divorce a palatable matter.
Another Sister, embarks on that path herself, but life the first aforementioned person, has her heart and mind filled with her own concocted
perception of what the path is. She is married becomes a widow, is married again and widowed again, and in some cases maybe is injured herself or loses a child. She becomes weary and the whispers of Shaytaan grow and grow inside her until she see going back to the land of Kufr
Is better for her and her family, only to find that her two options now are: Imprisonment, or complying and losing her Deen completely.

Romanticism and hype leading to building houses on foundations that are a mirage.
If we tie our decisions to Allah completely, seeking His
Pleasure, and remembering His Ayat and the Sunnah of His messenger, and the Seerah of the Prophet and His Sahaba, then we know and are reminded that Allah warned those who BELIEVE, that enormous tests will await. We read the Seerah, and see the tests that the believers encountere
And Allah garunteed us the same if we are from among the people of EMAN:
"Do people think once they say, “We believe,” that they will be left without being put to the test?
We certainly tested those before them. And ˹in this way˺ Allah will clearly distinguish between those who
are truthful and those who are liars"

So know the reality of these Ayat, as this is the Sunnah of Allah in how he tests His Servants.
The Path looks impossible, but if we know reality, and know that in the end the reward is for those who have patience and are truthful, we can
eagerly embark towards the tris that await us.

"O you who believe, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful"
