❌STOPTOBER

Traditionally a 28-day period to help quit smoking, it’s also been adopted to help with other undesirable habits.

Although buying football shirts is far from undesirable, I wanted to see if I could break the habit...

Okay, let’s be real, my purchasing habits weren’t in the realms of elaborate.

My monthly hauls weren’t massive, neither the cost per shirt extortionate, but the worry came from a feeling of starting to lose self-control. I needed to take a step back. Reign it in.

But October wasn’t easy. Temptation was everywhere!
▪️ @CharlyFutbol day of the dead release
▪️ @adidasfootball x @Pharrell x Humanrace launch
▪️ @phildelves personal shopper
▪️ @mandmdirect Brazilian drop
▪️ @KitbagUK 30% sale
▪️ @cultkits 20% sale

And so on...

Did I make it through?

Nope. I didn’t. I made 2 shirt purchases during October, but they were well calculated (that’s how alleviate my guilt).

1️⃣ Jumped onto the Kitbag sale and site error to bag a Roma Vaporknit for a little over £30. The deal was just far too good to turn down, Roma home is on my new 20/21 kits list and I’d never had a vapor before.

A moment of weakness.

It sits in its bag still unopened.

2️⃣ There was a huge movement in the community for #KitsForMeals. And being part of that, I wanted to ensure I had something to remember it by as well as raise some money for a great cause, so I got the @kitandbone #KitsForMeals shirt.

So, I tried and failed. But that’s okay.

The enjoyment of collecting doesn’t mean addiction, but I can see the potential for crossover. I feel back in control.

My advice would be to set boundaries like budgets or numbers, or have some focus areas.
