If you think the move is “let’s stay nice and respectful”, you’re blind at best, and at worst you know the evil you’ve done and you’re trying to feather the response. This is beyond cultural bickering, tribe, difference of opinion. I will not lay out a tidy thinkpiece for you
You've had years to think- tweets upon tweets upon articles upon video essays upon cries for help from the people under the lazy boot you didn't even deign to realize you'd set down on their neck and pressed. He was raised to office as a "fuck you", polite is years old
Probably this isn't for most of the 70k of you here to watch me draw cartoons and be a nice church boy, but some of you are drafting your "let's be civil even if we disagree no matter what happens" posts. Be civil 4 years ago. Be civil and have-waited to confirm your judges.
It's too late, and that's what all this grief and rage has been about- the incivility that's already been done- that the country has been living through for years now. Don't tell anybody to calm down this week- they've earned it, no matter how uncomfortable it makes you.
Now, are we going to make it? We are. Are we going to be alright and do the work and survive whatever this looks like either way? Yes absolutely. Are we going to find ways outside of government to heal and care for eachother? No matter what, yes.
That's a far cry from pretending that a vote for Trump is "just political" and "a difference of opinion". It's not, it never has been and we all know it. He's a weapon on the table, and family dinner doesn't resume like the gun's not there, or never was there if it goes away.
