Before you can secure the high speaker fee you have to secure your message and what type of solution are you solving as an speaker. Here are a few speaker tips based on @MindaHarts speaker thread:

1. Learn how to be your own hype man as a new speaker. Your first speaking engagements can consist of podcast interviews, YouTube interviews or IG lives.

2. Identify your signature message. What are you trying to solve for your audience? Be the message before the book. Be the message that represents your product or service.

3. Learn how to develop solid content for different types of speaking engagements. Develop new content and reuse content for your keynote speeches, presentations, webinars and fire side chats. You can reuse content from your book, article or blog post.

4. Create business partnerships with organizations that support your message. If your message is solving a problem you need to align your message with the right organizations so you can get booked to speak regularly.

5. It’s okay to speak for free or for couple thousands to build your speaking creditability. Speak at big conferences or events that have big name sponsors and wow them with your speaking skills. Once you wow them then you can increase you speaking fee to higher prices.

6. Stop watching others do the work and create your own speaking plan. Get a speaker coach, develop 1-3 signatures speaking topics, and speak at events. The best speakers just do the work to get noticed. Be your hype man.

7. Be an authentic speaker and create your own speaking swagg. Being a speaker is like being a rapper you gotta bring your own style and uniqueness to the physical or virtual stage. Stand out so you can get paid!

8. Focus on being real. We have enough clout chasing speakers out here who provide no value. Always provide value, solutions and data in your messages! Educate, empower and entertain your audience.

9. Stay consistent there will be discouraging moments as a speaker. You won’t always get the speaking gig or the pay you ask for. But always remember your WHY.

10. Collaborate with other great speakers like @MindaHarts and become a student of public speaking. Read speaking books, listen to speaker podcast shows, and jump out there and speak. The more you speak the better you will become and the more money you will be able to ask for.

12. Develop an online course or coaching program and sell it. Record your knowledge and sell it online to thousands of folks. You can easily make over 20k per month selling digital content. This is still public speaking it’s just pre recorded.

13. Best way to find speaking engagements is to google conferences. Google “technology conferences” submit your speaking topics to all the conferences that align with your expertise. Big or small try to keep building your speaking clients list.

14. Always share the speaking flyers on social media. Let folks know you are speaking at conferences, participating on panels and moderating panels. Remember be your hype man let everyone online know you are an active speaker. Its the best way to keep consistent speaking gigs.
