With not so nice language at Director Mike. I was working on the 5th floor across the street and just so happened to look out the window and spotted Director Mike hovering over this guy who was cussing him out! Director Mike sat down next to him back against the federal building
And was talking to him! Next thing I see is they got up after a few minutes and went into the Detroit Free Press building to the restaurant called the Galley! Out they come about 30 minutes later with a bag of cheeseburgers I later found out acting like best buddies! Come to find
Out the guy was a veteran Navy guy who got taken by an ex wife etc etc!
Director Mike knowing this guys past in the Navy made him a confidential informant got approval to pay him $75.00 a day which in those days was not heard of for an informant! Usual was $20.00. This guy brought some good cases to Mike and when Mike couldn’t work them all they got
Divided up to other Agents! Finally this guy got his act together Mike recommended he be hired and sent to school on Georgia to be a special agent! Guy was hired and sent to school to learn the laws etc and how to be a federal agent! He and Director Mike remained friends
That guy just retired as a special agent with Health and Human Services pay grade GS-14 not to shabby as most don’t get that high in their careers! Just goes to show what stopping and talking to someone can do for a troubled individual! He became part of the group! Cool guy
Once you got to know him! Director Mike could’ve been a prick to the guy but he saw some thing others didn’t! They remained friends all these years! Guys first name was Clarence and would give you the shirt off his back! Thanks for reading! Karen
