Just because our sweet Jesus is sitting on the throne, doesn’t mean His presence there minimizes the perceived and actual threats that are looming for many in this country surrounding the election. Can we lean in and listen to people’s hearts instead of Jesus juking them?
I mean God forbid we answer other kinds of discomfort and fears people have with, “Well Jesus is still on the throne!”

Would we say that to a woman being abused by her spouse? Someone who has lost a child? A person who had died due to COVID-19? I sure hope not.
The royal enthronement of Jesus is not thwarted or less efficacious by acknowledging the reality of the consequences racism, misogyny, and abuse of power have in communities. To behold Christ in all His glory and authority, is to know He is kind enough to know our plight.
He tells the truth about the way things are and invites us to…while He sits on the throne.

Cause walking and chewing gum at the same time is a thing.

So is trusting in the authority of Jesus and being candid about the dark forces that seek to press up against the Kingdom too.
