With <24 hours until #ElectionDay , I want to share why I voted Yes on #Prop15 — & why I’m partnering with @TECollab and @Schools1stCA to give a few reasons why you should vote #YesOn15, too. Thread 🧵👇
#Prop15 will raise $12 billion every year to fund schools and local services statewide. The counties I represent — Alameda & Contra Costa — will get more than $270 million each year to fund schools, affordable housing, and more!
#Prop15 closes corporate property tax loopholes for large and wealthy companies. It protects homeowners, renters and small businesses who won’t see their taxes increase. Only big businesses will pay.
Trying to become a homeowner is already too hard for regular folks. On top of that, homeowners pay higher taxes to make up for big corporations that don’t pay their fair share. #YesOn15
When small businesses thrive, our communities thrive. #Prop15 invests in small businesses by allowing them to keep their property tax breaks and gives them an additional tax cut to help them recover and reinvest in their businesses.
Under #Prop15 only CA’s wealthiest companies pay. Just 10% of California’s most expensive nonresidential commercial properties account for 92% of Prop 15’s loophole-closing revenues.
I’m in good company in supporting #Prop15@JoeBiden, @KamalaHarris, @GavinNewsom, @CTA, and many more support @Schools1stC
Do you have a plan to vote #YesOn15? Drop your ballot off at a dropbox or polling place — or vote at the polls on Election Day (that’s *tomorrow* — 11/3)!
