"We have well over 300 million people and are divided right down the middle in how we look at the world. We have radically different world views. Instead of saying, 'Why don't we work on an arrangement where people who think one way can... (1/6)
"...'Why don't we work on an arrangement where people who think one way can just live according to those ideas and people who think another way can live that way?' Instead we feel like we have to 'win' and triumph over our enemies...." (2/6)
"...There has to be 'one' way to think that dominates the entire country? At some point, you should ask yourself, is that really the most civilized way for us to organize society? Is that the most civilized way for human beings to live with each other? ...." (3/6)
"....I'm inclined to think it would be better if we said, 'Look, we we just don't have the same vision for what society ought to be,' ....." (4/6)
"...Instead of every four years having a low-intensity civil war with each other, to see who's gonna ram ideas down the other's throats, what if we say, 'Why don't you live your way, we'll live our way, and we'll see. 'Let the best man win' kind of thing." (5/6) -- @ThomasEWoods
