These are credible and acclaimed scholars who have spent years and years studying, researching and writing about authoritarianism. As a PhD student who studies the history of fascism and right-wing groups, I've read and studied their works.
They may disagree about the definitions of fascism but they all agree that authoritarianism exists and it exists in the leadership of the United States.
Yes, vote. But we have so much work to do to turn the tide: safeguard critical thinking; support investigative journalism, science and the humanities; support freedom of the press; create coalitions across gender, class and race; protest. We must defend democracy.
If this sounds hyperbolic, it isn't. The threat is very real, and it is ongoing.
