Occasionally someone will say they won't buy a Christmas tree as it's not good for the environment.
I understand the concern.
Here's a few points
1) Christmas trees are only grown because of Xmas. These are trees that remove CO2 from atmosphere that wouldn't otherwise exist. https://twitter.com/SEMgalore/status/1323387467140136963

2) They are generally better for environment than fake trees.
According to Carbon Trust UK, you'd need to keep a fake tree for at least 10 Christmasses to have a lower environmental impact than a real tree.
Fake trees are often made from plastic.

3) The biggest environment impact comes from how a real tree is disposed.
But you can buy a pot-grown Christmas tree with it's root intact, so you can keep it after Xmas, and use year after year.
Where it keeps on living are removing CO2 from the atmosphere.

4) If you do get a cut Christmas tree. Make sure when it is disposed of, that it is recycled.
Did you know zoos will take your old trees as animals like them for food and shelter? http://www.belfastzoo.co.uk/news-and-events/news/News-5563.aspx

5) Trees can also be recycled for flood defences.

6) If you truly want an eco-friendly Christmas, then yes, it's best not to buy a Christmas tree at all (real or fake).
Maybe don't use wrapping paper either.
Also don't buy any presents
