I get that these divisions don't happen on their own. Your racist/homophobic relative already had it in them, but it doesn't change that they're being exploited. Radicalized. Lied to. I know people who can barely speak to their parents anymore and...
...it's because the fire was stoked, intentionally, until it burns so hot there's no putting it out. This will be one of our biggest wounds as a society to heal from, but sadly I don't think the ones stoking the fire are going to stop anytime soon. But hey, tomorrow's a start!
