Have never felt more sick about an election than I do about tomorrow. So much is riding on the result. Not just for the US but for the world. Taking the day off work because whatever happens I know I’ll be an emotional wreck. Want to be hopeful but hope feels so risky after 2016
Another four years of Trump will be utterly disastrous for the climate, for the pandemic, for racial justice, women’s reproductive rights, LGBTIQ equality and so much more. And like it or not what happens in the US has a ripple effect all over the world. Scares the shit out of me
Watching Sky News “journalists” over there proudly wearing MAGA hats and cheering on Trump’s worst excesses gives a flavour of where some sections of this country want to take us. Don’t think what’s happening in the US couldn’t happen here. It already is. That’s why I can’t sleep
The thing that worries me most is what happens to all the young people who volunteered and campaigned and voted for the first time, if Trump uses voter suppression and a packed Supreme Court to steal the election. They’ll learn democracy is broken and their voice doesn’t matter.
