There are few things I hate as much as the myth of the competent nazi.

The myth is, itself, flagrant fascist propaganda.

Nazis need everyone to believe in these strong charismatic leaders who just sweep in, take direct control of everything, and Get A Bunch Of Stuff Done, and https://twitter.com/Delafina777/status/1323329302667014144
have that concept normalized. They need you to buy into the idea that at least on paper, authoritarianism and dictatorship works, you just need to have the right person at the helm.

And they don't just need you to believe that about this guy they're pointing to as "right" today,
they need you to keep believing that premise going forward so the next guy they prop up doesn't seem like a terrible idea as well.

But no, the fundamental premise is, in fact, unsound. Things actually do run much better when you allow the experts who actually have the experience
and basic educational grounding in what they do. "Big strong confident men" are, invariably, fucking idiots who always "go with their gut" and actively avoid learning anything, and nazis in particular are completely incompetent in absolutely every field because it's a requirement
You do not throw your lot in with a bunch of pathetic racists making up myths and legends about your secret amazing power unless you realize on some level that you are personally just a complete failure of a human being who can never hope to accomplish any of what you want out of
life in any legitimate way, and that the only way you can get anywhere is to band together with a bunch of other utterly pathetic losers, lie and cheat your way to power, and promote each other through blatant nepotism and constant absurd propaganda. That's the whole sales pitch.
And you can just look at history, or, you know, the current state of the U.S. to see that in practice, they are indeed terrible at everything. Any notion you might have in your head that any nazi has ever done anything impressive besides talking up the glory of other nazis is an
outright lie.

They did not, in fact, make the trains run on time. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/loco-motive/

There were never any "nazi super-scientists." Comic books aren't real.

There were never any magical occult nazis. Indiana Jones movies are also not real.

And as bears repeating, Hitler
was an absolute joke of a leader, both politically and militarily, lacking in charisma, and was, in his day, a complete laughing stock to the world, which constantly made fun of him.

And yet he still managed to commit genocide, set medical research back
by decades, and literally broke his own country in half, because you don't actually have to be in any way competent at anything to cause tremendous ruin and devastation. Just be given the power to do so.

And this of course is the other big reason people need to throw the myth of
the competent nazi in the bin. Because all those horrors were committed by a bunch of sad stupid little cosplayers, who dressed up in shiny black uniforms with little skulls on the hats to pretend they were all super badasses, and people just as pathetic can do just as much harm.
