Hey guys, as an educator, please over this next couple of years get versed in what your District’s school board is up to.

A thread....
In the upcoming years, to offset this school year of distance learning, they are going to be looking for policies and rules that will effect the landscape of our children’s future.
Needless to say, these changes rarely, if ever, benefit our students of color and in lower socioeconomic sections of the district. It leans heavily toward the richer (and typically, whiter) demo.
This is largely, not solely, due to these parents having more influence on the school board because they have the dispensable time to go to the meetings and the such where these changes are discussed.

WE. HAVE. TO. MAKE. A. WAY.
As it stands, I’d venture they’re going to put in some new testing platform or curriculum requirement that our students without the benefit of small pod learning, private tutoring, or access to adequate technology are going to be the most impacted.
What happens next is our kids are denied access certain classes based on “proficiency”. Suddenly, you’re missing these two other courses to graduate that weren’t in place previously. The grades you got under these extraordinary circumstances create deficits that can’t be undone.
Then, we have to protest to get things reverted back to the way they were. It can be stopped, but we gotta be prepared to stop it NOW.
