Trees have always had a special meaning to me. At times I lived in spaces where I couldn’t see them out a window. Basements, city cores. I later determined that wherever I lived I needed to see at least one tree outside a window.
When people were cutting down a large gorgeous tree lining a parking lot, one of the few I could see out of my last house in the middle of Sunnyvale CA, I cried. I’m glad it was only a month before we moved away.
Now I live in a forest.

The forests are dying and burning, and we collectively aren’t listening. Humans are so disconnected to nature's voice, the voices of the forest. Out of sight, out of mind.

Sometimes us #feralvegans have to help their voices be heard.
Yesterday I found a trail entry point to a patch of land behind my property. I got a bit lost, it was a maze through the forest. Until somehow I recognized the bend of a tree behind our house (in reverse).

Thanks to years of observation of these trees, I figured out where I was.
