On Community (thread):

I had a fuck of a week last week. Among other various annoyances, my bike was stolen, my toilet overflowed, and someone I care deeply about went to the hospital (they're fine now). Two years ago, a week like that would've thrown me into a ragey panic.
Despite being off my meds (again), I found it surprisingly easy to keep it together. Doubtless this had everything to do with the fact that multiple friends stepped in to offer me access to their resources. It forced me to ask myself an important question:
Do I really have mental health issues, or have I just never really had a support system before? We talk about the "lack of access to mental health services" as an important issue, especially as pertains to homelessness, suicide, drug addiction...
...but how many mental health issues wouldn't even exist if everyone had access to the *material goods and services* they need. Tell you what, it's a lot easier to keep my temper in check when my basic needs are taken care of. Like just give people the shit they need to survive.
Anywho... shout out to @darrellpark for delivering me an old bicycle almost immediately after mine was taken, to @HELLOIMJAG for lending me an e-scooter, and to @nicole_d14 for driving me when I needed to travel beyond scooter range.
Thank you to @VillanelleJR and @LilUrchin_Annie for letting me shower and shit at their place. Thank you to everyone who offered to spot me cash for a new bike, and to my friends who were gracious about me not showing up places this week.

Thank you for reading. 💜❤️
