Time after time we accept these scandals, usually shrugged off as 'sure they're all at it' which ignores the fact that this is systematic. This is institutionalised. The people we expect to hold our political class to account, won't. It goes against their class interest.
Look at Eamon Ryan and Victoria White. Jim and Miriam O'Callghan, Hugh O'Connell and his sister in law. Philip Ryan and his fawning book on Varadkar. Lorraine Clifford Lee and John Lee. This is an ecosystem that protects itself. Almost a caste system.
As long as the relationship between elected representatives, the media, the judiciary and the rest of official Ireland is dominated by the old school tie, the right collegiate societies and the right connections, this nepotistic, incestuous nonsense will continue
For every decent TD, there's three who rode on mammy or daddy's coattails to get into the dail. For every honest TD, there's a few with the right media connections willing to blow smoke up their hoops. And they're laughing at you while they do it.
It doesn't have to be like this, this scandal/reaction/repeat cycle, but unless we, you, demand better, this is what we'll get. Are you happy with this endless loop of brazen, well got chancers laughing at you with their chums in the golf club?
Or laughing at you as they had out juicy contracts, gigs and positions to family and friends? You should be pissed off. If you're FG, or FF, you should be pissed off, because you've had decades to fix this. If you're not pissed off, you're part of the problem
The structural, classist nature of these scandals won't go away by doing the same again. How do I know? Because that's the cycle. FF make a balls of it? Give FG a twist so. This won't stop, if the cycle doesn't stop.
Putting entitled, privileged flutes into the dail gets you privileged entitled politicians. Their class allies, journos, influencers, celebrity doctors will try convince you otherwise. History proves them wrong. Stop being mugs
