As some of you know it’s been VERY difficult for me to make up my mind about whom to support this presidential election because, with Joe Biden and Donald Trump, you've got two GREAT candidates.
As some of you know it’s been VERY difficult for me to make up my mind about whom to support this presidential election because, with Joe Biden and Donald Trump, you've got two GREAT candidates.
On the one hand, you’ve got Joe Biden, a former senator and vice president who has lived his life of public service with dignity and humility. On the other, you’ve got Donald Trump, a bankrupt racist who ran a fake university. So it’s tough.
But presidential elections shouldn’t be about personalities. They should be about issues. Joe Biden wants to work with scientists to end the pandemic. Donald Trump has given up on doing anything about the pandemic because he thinks it makes him look bad. Again, a toss-up.
4M jobs have been lost under Donald Trump’s leadership and while it’s impossible to say how many jobs might be created during a Biden administration, in the Obama administration it was over 8M, for a difference of about 12M jobs between the two. So that’s a wash.
Trump has rolled back environmental protections, including ones on asbestos. Joe Biden is against asbestos. For the pro-asbestos voter, I suppose that makes the choice easy. If only that were the ONLY important issue to me. This is really hard.
I also care about minority rights, women’s rights, the LFBTQ community, refugees. I care about decency, compassion, kindness. I care about science. Joe Biden cares about these things, too, but Trump does silly dances. Am I really ready to give that up?
The scale of corruption under Donald Trump’s administration has been breathtaking and blatant. Pretty much everybody Trump knows ends up arrested or indicted. Joe Biden’s associates hardly ever seem to go to jail, which seems VERY odd.
Joe Biden is an observant Catholic who quietly practices his faith. Donald Trump doesn’t know which side of a Bible is up and has stuffed his administration with a cabal of white supremacist theocrats who want to create a white evangelical Christian ethnostate.
Trump seems to prefer the word of Vladimir Putin to that of his own government and has made the USA into something of a pariah state. Joe Biden will restore our standing in the world. Do we really want to have to talk to “the world”? The world is so annoying!
This is why the election has been so tough for me: the two candidates are basically identical. In the end, though, I’ve decided to support the guy who is secure enough in his own self-image to forgo high heels and spray tans. The guy whose wife actually likes him.
I’ve decided to support the guy who helped pass the most significant healthcare reform in history and correctly called it a big fucking deal. The guy that everybody who I hate also hates.
I’m going to support the guy who picked the first woman of color to join a major presidential ticket, the guy who rode the train home home to Delaware each night to see his young sons. The guy who says "malarkey" and doesn't care that is makes him sound like a 300 year old dork.
It wasn’t easy for this #undecidedvoter to make up his mind, but after weighing all the information about, again, two GREAT candidates, I am proud to support Joe Biden for president. Kanye 2024.
