Finished compiling @ARUKscientist research outputs as reported on @Researchfish. Here's a sneak peek and a few personal thoughts:
1) Publishing papers is hard. It requires an unbelievable amount of time and luck. If you have a paper on your name you def deserve a pat on the back
2) Collaborating is vital. Different analyses show that collaborative research produces more short-term outputs and more long-term outcomes and impact.
People with different expertise, who can challenge your perspectives, will improve the quality of your research.
3) Both funders and researchers should give a bigger value to "low-key" outreach activities. A well prepared, engaging presentation in your local high school can have a bigger impact in the future of your discipline than a talk in an international conference.
