“...liberalism asks survivors/victims to lay aside our pain/trauma for the sake of others; it demands that we take ownership for a violence we never afflicted onto ourselves and watch as (our) abuser(s) celebrate their victories in the wake of our death.” https://wearyourvoicemag.com/liberalism-rape-culture-joe-biden-electoral-politics/
at the end of all of this, i want people to remember that they’ve been shouting down at people—of whom, many are survivors—for choosing to not vote for one man accused of sexual violence over the other. please remember that that’s what’s been happening.
i don’t care about whether or not a person is voting in this election. i do care about the amount of you who punch down at folks—Black folks, in particular—who choose to care about survivors/the global south/marginalized ppl in ways opposite of you and yours.
what has become painfully obvious throughout this process is that, to so many of you, the issue is not the violence and the harm; the issue is who presents the violence. so much so that you’ll accept it so long as the mouthpiece is one you can tolerate.
i hope that you will be honest about that. that you’ll admit that while you were yelling at (perhaps, fellow) Black folks, survivors, etc. for choosing to not vote for a man who has harmed us in one way or several others, that you inadvertently named what you do & don’t care abt.
ultimately, i blame what happens tomorrow/this week on anti-Blackness, on whiteness, on colonialism. not on any individual marginalized person who felt the need to vote out of fear or necessity.

i know non-voters won’t be met with that same grace.
