Based on the classifications of situations of violence, @ICRC will invoke different legal frameworks (notably #IHL in situations of armed conflicts) in its dialogue with States and parties concerned, with the goal of strengthening the protection of affected people.

ICRC’s mandate and role emanate notably from #IHL treaties and vary depending on the legal classification of the situation. Some of the themes we work on include #detention, conduct of hostilities notably in #urbanwarfare, use of force in law enforcement operations, displacement, humanitarian access, dialogue with non-State armed groups, etc.
