Commanders, @USArmyDoctrine rewrote this passage & removed "prudent" just to beat it into your heads: accept risk, let juniors fail in training, let them try things out.
There were times I knew exactly how I wanted my PLs/PSGs to execute a task (some maneuver lanes come to mind 😬) - but they didn't. I let them spin their tires a bit and figure things out, as long as safety wasn't compromised.

It's hard, and we all need work on it.
Okay, I wasn't that great at it either; I'm sure I gave away too many hints to help them when they floundered.
