Teaching about apocalypticism, the Book of Daniel, and modern interpretation hits a bit different this week.
Daniel 9's proclamation of "70 weeks" was used in 2018 to declare that the relocation of the American embassy to Jerusalem was a fulfillment of prophecy.
"70 weeks" became 70 years and reframed for the modern state of Israel: "We remember 70 years ago, President Harry S. Truman was the first leader to recognize the Jewish state. And we remember how a few weeks ago President Donald J. Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital"
Other connections were made between Trump and the Persian King Cyrus, who instructed the Judeans to rebuild their Temple in Jerusalem.
Isaiah 45 and Trump as the 45th President were linked to suggest that Trump was the modern-day King Cyrus. "“Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus..."
