Match of the day, Saturday night. Linker, Shearer and Murphy spent a solid minute discussing Mo Salah being kicked.
-Shearer “he makes contract, yes. It’s not supposed to be if he makes contact, it’s whether it’s a foul or not.”

Shearer previously on Saint Harry Kane - “he’s clever. He draws contact and when he feels the slightest of touches, he goes over. It’s clever forward play. It’s a definite Penalty’.
Talksport. Sunday night. Yes, Sunday...after FOUR premier league games had taken place that day.
Paul Ross (that well known footballing brain) decides to go on a weird rant about Salah and even becomes an epidermis expert. 3 times.

The football that happened that actual day involved Spurs.
And Saint Harry.
Diving.
Not being kicked and playing for the penalty.
Actual Diving.
Not mentioned once.
Judge for yourself in the next tweet..

Sunday. Match of the day 2.
Kane & Son both dive without contact.
Neither incident mentioned at all in the post match analysis by the pundits. 24 hours after an entire minute devoted to calling Salah a Diver, AFTER HE WAS KICKED.
Why?

Why?
Cut to a fucking weird article in the newspaper today by Tony Cascarino where he somehow draws comparison of, attempting to use emotive language, the sad recent passing of the white English hero Nobby Stiles, to attack the African Muslim diver Mo Salah.
It’s all too easy to make accusations of racism, xenophobia or islamophobia. Many (with Union flags in their Twitter bio) argue that’s far too deep.
Is it?
Why is it only the African Muslim who receives this treatment when he’s actually fouled not just thrown himself over?

We’ve been here before. David Moyes accused Luis Suarez of being a diver. (Suarez’s response when scoring against his Everton team by throwing himself to the ground in front of Moyes was poetic)
Suarez went a year of being kicked to pieces as referees up and down the land refused to award him a penalty.
The agenda was set. The narrative was written. The Kop sung ‘we’re going to have a party when Suarez gets a Pen’.
They did...A year later.

Perhaps it’s that simple.
Liverpool are the best team in the country. They made a mockery of the Premier League last season breaking all kinds of records. Perhaps the narrative to brand Salah something is the only route left to try to stop them doing it again?
