#Volunteering is critical to the nation's coronavirus response as well as the sustainability of many volunteer-involving organisations. The announcement of a national
#lockdown means another shift in how we
#volunteer. Here are the basics

(thread)

Yes, you can still go outside to volunteer or help out your neighbours, but:
- only where your volunteering activity cannot be done from home, and
- you / your household is free of coronavirus symptoms and hasn't tested positive recently

Safety first! Workplaces should be COVID-secure and you should follow the rules on washing hands

, wearing a face covering

, and social distancing

.

Voluntary and charitable activities are exempt from restrictions on travel and group size. This means people can:

travel to volunteer or while volunteering

meet in groups of any size indoors or outdoors while volunteering

People who are clinically extremely vulnerable to the effects of the virus should only volunteer from home

Other clinically vulnerable people (aged 60+ / pregnant/ underlying health conditions) should follow the same rules as everyone else but minimise contact with others
