Re: Self-ID in Germany:
Today was the first hearing. The only invited MD warned about the ridiculous law proposal, which, following the IGLYO manual, mixed intersex/DSD & trans. It was obvious that a lot of the politicians are incompetent (or mime to be). Invited (female!)
jurists laughed about the (huge!) possibility in this law proposal to abuse the law&said that in other countries, there are no problems at all! And if (!) there might be an assault, we could handle it if it happens. Women are collateral damage, again. Real feminists had prepared
critical statements and again, the (female!) jurists laughed it off. Only one of the 3 invited jurists argued rational (male). Women against women.
The problems of the so called #Selbstbestimmungsgesetz (german version of Self-ID) were and are not discussed in public. At all.
The problem is, that both, sex and gender, are called "Geschlecht" in german. So most don't seem to understand the difference or use the word willingly arbitrary where it suits them.
Some parts of the proposed law include:
- Self-ID, once a year possible to "change" gender
- No psychological necessity needed
- But: All operations should be paid by universal health care (which is already the case, but only if the person suffers from gender dysphoria)
- 14 y.o. kids can decide to change 'gender', even against parent's will
- and/or 14 y.o. can start medical procedures - including SRS (again, without gen. dysphoria)
- misgendering someone, even by accident, costs up to 2.500€
- no precautions against poss. abuse of this law
It is super sad to witness how privileged women throw other women under the bus. So far only the conservative party holds a position which isn't eroding women's rights. A small far right party argues against Self-ID, but with the wrong premises (because they're mainly anti-gender
and not pro-women).
The rest, SPD (~labour party), GrĂĽne (~green party, of course anti-women), Linke (left) and FDP (~liberals) are in favor of queer theoretical 'argumentations'.
It's sad and alarming to see this nonsense in the german parliament, about to be enshrined in law.
(For context: For law proposals, the parties can invite experts on different fields [in this case 1 MD, 4 jurists and 1 spokesperson for trans] so they can state their expertise and rating on the discussed topics, on which foundation the politicians can form their opinion.)
