Scanning through our new @13WREX election mapping software. This will be key to how we track votes in the presidential race, senate race and local congressional races.
Looking back at 2016: Hillary Clinton only won 12 of Illinois’ 102 counties. But, she won the majority of Chicago counties and virtually every populous county in the state, netting her 56% of the vote. @13WREX
How close was it here in Winnebago County?

The short answer-- very.

Donald Trump lost to Hillary Clinton in Winnebago County by just 89 votes.

@13WREX
He won every other county in our viewing area in 2016. @13WREX
Similar to Hillary Clinton in 2016, Senator Dick Durbin defeated challenger Jim Oberweis in 2014, but only won 14 counties. Though, he carried the populous counties, including Cook, netting him 1.85M votes. @13WREX
We have two congressional seats up for grabs in the 16th and 17th districts.

In 2018, @RepKinzinger beat Sara Dady by more than 46,000 votes. In the 16th district, he only lost the sliver of DeKalb County. @13WREX
In the 17th, incumbent @RepCheri won 62% of the vote and won every county/sliver of a county in her district. @13WREX
Are you confused as to which Illinois Congressional District you live in?

You're probably not alone.
This is how the line is gerrymandered through @CityofRockford. It loops through on Riverside, then crosses the river at Auburn Street, and zig zags its way through the east side of the city.

The left/SW side of the map is #IL17, everywhere else is #IL16. @13WREX
