It’s going to be a bit of a week, so here are six things I’m using to anchor myself:
1) Being informed does not equal being constantly informed. Being informed means being able to meaningfully process and engage in the news of the day. Your shoulders were not meant to carry the world, do not push them to do so.
2) No matter what happens this week, things will still need to be done to work for the flourishing and freedom of all people. Elections matter, and they are only part of the way we impact change.
3) Stress in my body cannot be ignored or denied, it must be allowed to complete its response cycle. Sleep. Eat nourishing food. Move your body. Cry when the tears well up.
4) This is hard. We can do hard things. We do hard things best when we do them together. We’re all walking each other home. (Ram Dass)
5) Feelings belong and can be moved through and are a source of wisdom. “Should” is poison and we will not should ourselves into being less human.
6) Breathe deep. And again. Keep going.
