There are two types of NeverTrumpers:
1. People worried this NY liberal would destroy conservatism forever.
2. People worried this outsider would knock them out of their positions of influence.

Type 1 is voting for Trump. Type 2 is now working directly with the Biden campaign. https://twitter.com/InezFeltscher/status/1323264561852678147
Typical type 1 sentiment:

"Best of all, Trump stood athwart the left and shouted, with typical Queens flair, stop. And he did so, truth be told, more successfully than the sentiment’s original author and my 2016 presidential candidate."
Type 1 NeverTrumpers are ready to Road War for the GEOTUS.

" Trump represents the first time in the post-Cold War era that Republicans actually pushed back against the relentless cultural onslaught."
"I hope to be wrong, but I see a very dark future for this country, one in which speech is stifled...and where much of the curtailment of liberties is done in a private-sector end run around the Bill of Rights."

She gets it. David French is just mad he's not in charge.
This Type 1 NeverTrumper was so used to being abused by GOP moderates, she was afraid Trump would deliver a betrayal like never before, and is shocked that not only was he not worse, but delivered far more to conservatives than any President *in the party's history.*
David French cares about only one thing: being considered a "thought leader" of conservatism. He's every bit the narcissistic egomaniac that Richard Spencer is (weak men are often narcissists). He'd rather Twitter ban the GOP entirely than suffer another day on the margins.
A second Trump term will matter more than a second Reagan term, because Reagan failed to destroy the Party establishment that hated his base, and they acted quickly to neutralize his influence via the Bush family. Trump, by contrast, has run the establishment to the margins.
