Yes, @petrisarvamaa @ManfredWeber are right: This IS existential for a Union built on trust in independent courts.

As a mere cash machine the 🇪🇺 cannot survive. Solidarity requires respect for treaties.
So how to reach an agreement now?

Strengthen this existing mechanism:

- the @EUCourtPress, ruling on violations of the 🇪🇺 treaty
- infringement procedures
- article 19 of the treaty:

„Member States shall provide remedies sufficient to ensure effective legal protection in the fields covered by Union law."
The highest EU court ruled:

"The very existence of effective judicial review designed to ensure compliance with EU law is of the essence of the rule of law."

If judges in a member state are controlled by their governments the rule of law ends.

This is clearly required to protect the „financial interests“ of the EU: how else than with independent courts would this be possible for all projects?

It also safeguards mutual recognition of judgements - without which the 🇪🇺 legal space collapses.

It cuts the Gordian knot.
What is at stake for 🇪🇺 is huge.

A win-win solution for the @EU_Commission @EP_President @Europarl_EN & member states & 🇩🇪 presidency is possible!
