As the #SDG Decade of Action begins, we need to raise our ambition to measure inequality in child-related indicators - in other words we need disaggregated data

Pledge to #LeaveNoOneBehind is one key principle of the #SDGs, with a commitment to reduce #inequality and tackle discrimination. This requires data, which reflects the different conditions children are facing, in other words data disaggregated by different characteristics (2/n)
A lot of progress has been made over the last years to set up a global indicator framework for the #SDGs to measure progress with timely and accurate data. Data disaggregation is a key priority for instance for the IAEG-SDGs (expert group on #SDG indicators). (3/n)
However, as our new analysis shows, many #SDG indicators are still lacking important disaggregation dimensions. The #SDG Global Database currently only includes disaggregated data for 12 out of 51 child-relevant indicators. (4/n)
Expanding disaggregated data will largely depend on more frequent household surveys & better disaggregation of administrative data. #COVID19 impacted traditional data collection, but might bring new innovations. But biggest barrier is often political will (5/n)
Quality and timely disaggregated data is the key to more effective #SDG implementation and evidence-based policy making. So, let's raise our ambition on data disaggregation, redouble efforts and make sure all kids are visible and counted! (6/6)
