Many investors don't seem to grasp the significance of a highly accurate, rapid #COVID19 test that can be used at home, and that can detect asymptomatic cases (like #AVCT's).
These tests will arguably be as important as vaccines (at least the first gen. of vaccines). 1/n https://twitter.com/MylesMcNulty/status/1322467768353071104

Firstly, the 1st generation vaccines:
"The first generation of vaccines is likely to be imperfect, and we should be prepared that they might not prevent infection but rather reduce symptoms, and, even then, might not work for everyone or for long." 2/n https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-first-covid-vaccines-likely-to-be-imperfect-and-might-not-prevent-infection-says-taskforce-boss-12116593

In tandem with this, we must consider the likely uptake of the 1st gen. vaccines. Precisely because they have been rushed, and potential longer term effects not yet known, there appears to be much apathy towards them. 3/n

It is estimated that herd immunity is attained at around 70-75%. Assuming that only 50% of the population is vaccinated with a vaccine that only offers 75% protection, then the nation would effectively only have half the coverage required for H.M. 4/n https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/oct/21/covid-vaccine-immunisation-protection
We also know that natural immunity (achieved through having contract the virus, and subsequently having recovered) may not be long lasting. #COVID19 targeting antibodies fade over several months.

Until a vaccine (one in trials, or one not yet developed) is proven to have a high efficacy - and equally importantly, a long term track record for its safety profile, which would result in a large majority of the nation taking it - then alternative solutions must be adopted. 6/n
Regular, at-home #COVID19 antigen testing is an alternative solution to mass pop. vaccination.
Used proactively, in the correct manner, by the majority of the pop., it would be much more than simply a diagnostic tool, but a critical tool in suppressing the virus. Here's how: 7/n

There's a lot of kickback, understandably, from many parts of society about lockdown, vaccines, testing, etc.
Regular antigen testing will be costly, but it will also enable the Gov to allow people to mingle at will once more, AND not require them to have taken a vaccine. 8/n

24-48 hour immunity passports - granted by testing negative on an 'asymptomatic-detectable' LFT, which is linked to a phone App - will be introduced by the Gov very soon, IMO. In fact, I believe that it is waiting on the launch of #AVCT's LFT, to announce the concept. 9/n
I think the main reason that many don't appreciate the real potential of LFTs in suppressing #COVID19 is that there aren't actually any on the market yet (that can be used by anyone, at home, to detect all cases). As mass testing for a virus on a global scale has never... 10/n
...occurred before, this solution is incomprehensible to many.
There has been a lot of condemnation online about #AVCT being slow to market. Those people condemning clearly have carried out limited research into #COVID19 diagnostics. @avacta is developing a product that... 11/n

I don't have a box of Abbott- or Roche-branded antigen LFTs in my bathroom. Detecting asymptomatic cases is evidently v. difficult science.
#AVCT is one of the few Cos globally trying to master it. 12/n
