The other day I sat down and said, imagine a content well put together with @Victorezeji9 as the centerpiece and he's telling the story of how they won the first CAF Champions League, padded with pictures and video clips. Then how he left to Dolphins and won the double.
Just imagine you discovering the sides to players like Muri Ogunbiyi, Jotex Frimpong, Vincent Enyeama, Kadiri Ikhana and others. Package it well and break it into 10 or 15 minutes per episode, a sponsor would pay for it. But no we want to always fight and kill Dikko and LMC.
This #NPFL have coaches that earn 2 million naira monthly, just as we have £350k earners weekly in the EPL, people also earn £1000-£5000 weekly and monthly in same league. We cannot focus on the BAD & UGLY, and then have amnesia in the GOOD. NPFL is our own, it needs us badly.
How we report/cover it, is what would bring about the wave of interest from the people, we are opinion shapers and paradigm shifters. If I have 100 followers and I talk about #NPFL long enough, 10 of the 100 would start liking or hating it depending on how I drive the narrative.
Negative reportage have been the mainstay for the #NPFL for eternity, can we try something new and be inventive and innovative for a bit. The season is about to start now, can the focus not be that every home win is because referees are to blame.
While I expect more open communications from the LMC and all #NPFL clubs, the media should also work hard and deep. No European clubs announces how much the pay for transfer or salaries(correct me if I am wrong) but the media there always work hard to get the figures and hype it.
As a sports journalist in Nigeria, I can bet you anything that you stand a better chance at financial success if you drive your journalistic vehicle around the #NPFL and other domestic leagues than being the Skysport studio annex. Twist your tongue how you like, local still sells
