Storytime alert: Not too long ago, the mayor of a small Russian village was confronted with a difficult problem. The mayoral election was due soon, and he wanted to run again and win. But nobody was willing to contest against him.
At least two candidates were needed for the election to happen, and so, the mayor asked a few people to contest. They all declined.

One day, he got lucky. A member of his staff who used to clean the city hall, agreed to file her nomination to help her boss deal with this crisis.
The mayor was relieved, and finally glad to be able to contest and win again. Until the results were announced, that is.

She won the election😆 She won almost 62 percent of the vote, and the mayor 34 percent. From cleaning the city hall, his opponent has gone on to run it.
I did not make this up. This happened for real! :) See: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-54338785
