A few things because this case is complex and many are emotionally invested:
- Depp brought this case on against the Newspaper.
- Justice was served. On the 14 incidents, Judge said Johnny Depp was abusive.
- Amber Heard is not on trial.
- This doesn't mean men don't face abuse.
- Many are surprised because there are claims of abuse from both sides. This is not unusual. Many domestic and sexual abuse cases are presented as such.
- Defamation trials are also weapons of control, used by many abusers to discredit any claims against them.
- Common red flags of abuse were mentioned by both parties. Mood wings, irrational suspicion of adultery, emotional abuse, substance abuse and love bombing.

- Many people see the allegations against Heard as proof that “men can also be abused” or that women can lie about abuse. This comparison is false. We know from field experience that men can be abused but it doesn’t mean that women lie about abuse. Evidence shows this is a myth.
- A lot of the testimony and discussion revolved around lack of bruises on Amber Heard. Not all abuse results in bruises and abuse that results in bruises isn’t the test for how serious the damage to someone’s welfare is.
Most of all, we need to find a better way of reporting on cases of domestic abuse, and refrain from sensationalising details. Your sleuthing of social media posts and red carpet pitures will not get you to the "truth".
